Overview
The OAK Consortium is composed of educational and non-profit research institutions within the states of Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas. Together, these universities strive to make high performance computing available to researchers throughout the region, regardless of university size. In addition to providing computing resources, the members of OAK also seek to foster the development of researchers through the hosting of periodic conferences and events.
Mission
To leverage critical computing and data infrastructure and expertise in the OAK region and bring together experts from different domains, for long-term research and training opportunities.
History
The OAK Consortium was established by the following founding universities:
Oklahoma:
-
-
- Oklahoma State University
- University of Central Oklahoma
- University of Tulsa
- University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center
-
Arkansas:
-
-
- Arkansas State University
-
Kansas:
-
-
- Kansas State University
- Wichita State University
-
Together, these universities were awarded the 2nd largest NSF MRI Award, "Acquisition of a High-Performance Computational System for OAK Region to Enable Computing and Data Driven Discovery". This award will enable the acquisition and implementation of a heterogeneous (CPU and GPU) supercomputing system housed at Oklahoma State University and available at no cost to all researchers within the OAK region, regardless if the institution was one of the founding members.
Events
To foster communication and scientific development, the OAK Consortium organizes various conference and workshops, including a semi-annual meeting for all OAK region members.
